Mary Orvis started the firm Orvis & Orvis with daughter Jane Orvis, in 2011. This brought together over 40 years of experience in Seattle area residential real estate. A MEMORIAL
Founder Mary Orvis obtained her real estate license in 1978, working with many of the major real estate firms in the Seattle area, including Windermere and ReMax.
Before her four decades in real estate, Mary worked in the banking and accounting industries. She was an investor in several residential properties in the Seattle area and lived in Belltown, where she served as the board president of her condo association. Her experience working in Seattle through booms and busts taught her resourcefulness and creativity. She excelled in helping her buyers and sellers achieve their goals through a pleasant, enjoyable, and widely praised process. Mary’s penchant for making real and lasting connections with her clients has become a hallmark of Orvis & Orvis’ personal touch. She led a busy life as an active advocate for her clients while still making time for golf, sailing, and raising a daughter as a single mom.
She was also known for her experience as an open ocean sailor—having completed the 1994 Victoria to Maui International Yacht Race—as a crew member of a 70ft racing sloop. Her spirit of adventure and intelligent direction continues to be the daily wind beneath our sails.
